Ireland has a key role to play in the spiritual re-birth of Europe. France, the eldest daughter of the Chrurch is another key player. Out of the ashes, the Holy Remnant will succeed against all odds, with the help of our Blessed Mother, Queen of Heaven, and St. Michael leading the legions to victory over the antichrist. We live in prohetic times.
Hmm. While I think there is an element of truth in this we need to be careful of egotism disguising itself as spirituality. Plenty of Irish are now in the upper echoleons of global companies like BP destroying the planet (Exhibit A -Bernard Looney) and they show very little evidence of being any better than their Anglo-American counterparts.
Cardinal Cullen was imo the man most responsible for crushing the individuality of the Irish Catholic Church and remoulding into being wholly subservient to Rome. Our spiritual roots lie much deeper than his 'reforms' and it would be wonderful if we could revive our monastic and ecological traditions that were rooted in our indigeous spirituality. But that's just my view.....
I take your point, what goes for modern Irish 'empire' or economy does essentially mean ecological and social desecration, but I would argue that is not fully expressive of the monastic spirit of our golden age.
What I would say is that do you not see how capital and Whigs have collaborated to denigrate our national uniqueness.
Interesting read, although I’m not a practicing Christian and have probably more pagan leanings, the concept of the divine and a higher power is the common thread regardless. In the absence of any other organised religious structure in place, Catholicism is the only one that has any chance historically of standing against the rise of Islam on this island. I never want to return to a Church and state merger whereby bishops had enormous influence over policy making, however I am fully supportive of Catholics strengthening their faith, the problem they are going to encounter going forward is the lack of new priests, this has already reached a crisis point and has led to the decline of the religion in an opposing trend to that of Islam which continues to grow. Catholicism is a huge part of this island’s history and I would hate to see churches converted into mosques. One of the older mosques in the country on South Circular Road is a perfect example of this. This will happen if these trends are not reversed.

100% sin é.

Absolutely I do. But I’m a huge fan of Frantz Fanon who talks about the process of decolonisation and the psychic residue of Empire.
We have imo much work to do to unpick the legacy of domination, cultural erasure which has characterised Irish history.
